Hello everyone, I have a question about the medical exams and vaccinations. We will have K-3 interview soon, will the medical be good for a CR-1 in 6 months? Should Zhen get the vaccinations, and complete the medical for both? I will be going to Guz for the Interview, and hopefully I will get to ACH to get all the recomended proceedures I would like to have some idea what we should be planning to do. Thanks, Mike & Zhen

The medical report is valid for 12 months from date of issuance.

Your fiance can either get her medical reports in China or the US to be used for the I-693A supplement form at AOS filing.

We will be returning to GUZ hopefully for Chinese New Year and CR-1, So, do we need a copy of the exam or will they keep it at the consulate? and if we get the vaccinations, will we not need the medical exam for the CR-1? Just the copy? How will we get the sealed envelope for the interview?, I don't see this information anywhere, thanks, Mike & Zhen

The medical results should be good also for the CR-1, I suspect they will have this on file, the vaccinations NEED to be done before the CR-1 interview. One other member just got a blue slip recently for this one, do them in Guangzhou if you can, the price is not as much as places in the USA

Can this medical also be done in Beijing?

First three on the list.

Good luck to you and your SO on your pending interview. I am a bit jealous at how fast you got your NOA1's. We were in China for CNY at the same time. I got married there on Valentine's day and returned on March 5th. I filed my I-130 on 14 Apr, but never got my NOA1. I had to wait 45 days and they said to just send my WAC number, which they verified off the back of the cashed check, in with my K3/4 -I129f. I did this on the 29th of May. I noticed you filed the I-824. When I asked the Officer at DHS, she said it was not necessary. But I want my wife to interview, and hopefully pass, the CR1 there in China. Of course we would take the K3 but are even now talking about maybe waiting a few week there in China for the CR1 interview, even if she has the K3/4 Visa because of the cost for the AOS here later. What do you think about having to file the I-824,..do you think it helped you?

Hello Mark, it is a very long wait for the CR-1 if you have filed for the K-3. We are hoping to get the CR-1 started before the Fee increases at the end of July. I paid the $200 for I-824, thinking that it would forward the I-130 quickly, but it is almost 3 months, and the I-824 has not been approved yet. If you want CR-1, now it is much quicker to only file the I-130. I think they are trying to eliminate doing double work for the petitioners/beneficiaries. We are hoping to return to Liuzou for Chinese New Year, so hopefully we will also have the CR-1 interview. It seems that almost no one is filing the I-824 for the I-130. There was a timeline and a long thread at VJ, but it is gone. I don't even know where it went!

Now I think it is better to choose the visa you want, and go for it. You will get K-3 at least 6 months or more ahead of CR-1, I don't think you want to spend the money and stay in China to wait for the CR-1, but you must choose. You do know, that because you filed the K-3 that the only way to get a CR-1 is pay the fee and file the I-824? Then you have to wait for the I-824 to be approved and the I-130 sent to NVC. After it is sent to NVC, the CR-1 process begins. I hope this helps, Mike & Zhen

Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply. Since there has been a 45 day lag since I filed the CR1, I hope it goes foreward before they see the K3 has been asked for. I too am returning to Dalian for a month this summer (Aug 19-Sep17) and again next CNY for at least 3 weeks. I am hoping my SO will have her interview then, even if it is for the K3. But I am paying for an apartment for her while she goes to school. If she does not have the K3 by Feb, which is unlikely, I will have to pay for another 6 month lease which will take it until Aug 08. She may have the K3 by Apr, hopefully, but I was hoping that they would follow with the CR1 interview a month or so later...I guess we will have to see ...once the K3 is in our hands. I would like to save the $1010 fee for the AOS. I have seen a few here at CFL where they had both Visas arrive in GZ at the same time and of course the interviewed for the CR1.

hello Mark, I hate to say it but 5 weeks won't be enough, the petitions will be connected before approval, and the I-130 will be held, I don't think you should worry about the CR-1, unless you want to cancel the I-129F. You will have to pay the new I-824 fee which is $340, I think, and wait for the I-130 to be forwarded. You will see how long that takes for me, before your approval. There are also fees with the CR-1!

I am the first person here at CFL to have the I-824 come into play, If I new then, what I know now I would have filed for CR-1 only, but I had the I-129F ready and filed before I knew about the I-824. Now I am hoping to get the CR-1 6 months after the K-3. If that doesn't happen, then it will be a complete waste of money. Mike & Zhen

Mike,

When I spoke to the DHS Officer and explained what I was doing, she said I did not need to file the I-824. Did they explain to why we need to do this. I do want the CR1, of course. I am still waiting for my NOA1 for the I-129f (K3/4). I sent it in on the 28th of May. If I can mail this in before the end of July, it will only be $200. I think we will end up paying for the lease for 6 more months ($1000) so my thinking is that even if she gets the K3 first I think I will have her stay until next July as long as we have an interview date by then. What other expenses will I have with the CR1?

Good luck to you.

Mark

Hello Mark, If you have already filed the I-129F for K-3, then the question has been answered. You will get K-3. I am no expert on any of this process, but the rules are that your I-130 will be held in the U.S. until you file for AOS. In order for you to get the CR-1 visa, you must either only file the I-130 and wait for the CR-1, or if you have filed for K-3, you must pay $200 for the I-824 to have the I-130 forwarded to the NVC for CR-1 processing. This means you will have to wait even longer for the CR-1, or you can get the K-3, come to the U.S. and return to China for the CR-1 later. This is our choice, Mike & Zhen

Mike,

thanks for getting back to me. I hope I get the NOA1 for the I-129f ASAP so I only have to pay the $200 and wait. It will be nearly the same cost. My wife comes here quickly on the K3, but now we must pay the $1010 for the I 485 AOS. Or, we pay the cost of a return ticket (probably for the both of us as I would not want her to go through the interview alone) to GZ for the CR1 Green Card.

What future expenses will I have for the CR1? What city is your wife from? Maybe we will see each other there for the next CNY?

Mark

Mark, I am not sure about the new fees and the CR-1, we got caught in the middle of a proceedure change (I-824), and now the fee increases are also coming! I am concentrating on the K-3 for now, and we will wait to see about the CR-1. When the I-130 is forwarded, maybe we will know more about how the fees will affect us. You will need the NOA-2, for the I-130 to file the I-824. The I-824 will cost $340 after July 29th. I hope you get your approvals vey quickly! Good luck! Mike & Zhen
