Feng Shui (wind water) is said to come be Qi (chi) which "rides on the back of the wind and rest by the water"...

A more ancient source states the practical man-nature; "Raise the head and observe the sky above. Lower the head and observe the environment around us,"

The bagua (8 trigrams) is the formulation of the universal forces of Yin Yang... Gua (ØÔ) is two characters: Sundial and Divine.

Thus, this is a divining tool based on the sun's movement (and resulting shadow); longest day and shortest day... the ideal situation is to harmonize oneself with nature; thus one must understand the way of nature.

The divining goes back to at least 5000 BC... The Trigrams were created as part of the Yi Jing/I Ching/Book of Change...

The octagon (bagua) is the origin of Feng Shui applications as well as face reading...

One should know that two configurations exists.. an 'early' and 'late' rotation of the bagua.

The former is more like innate or current state; the latter like acquired or next state... to use each one results in different outcomes... maybe no one cares and will just buy any cute item sold as 'ancient chinese'...

Bagua Mirror

This is supposed to deflect poison arrows shot at your house. :D

If your front door of your house or business is facing a street (perpendicular to your house - like a letter T), then you should put one of these at your door.

Jenny says she doesn't believe in Feng Shui but has an absolute must that our bed must face North-south. We've looked at buying several houses that are not lined up either N-S or E-W and she spends hours trying to figure out how to lay out the bed in a N-S orientation.

She claims she sleeps better facing N-S but had constant insomnia when she lived in China even though she slept N-S. Here she sleeps great. Can't seem to convince her it has to do with who she is sleeping with not the direction that matters.

I think it has to do with the sun rising from the east. If the window is facing east, the sun glare will blind you in the morning.
