Eric&Yuhui
Just some out loud thinking. If you plan to marry shortly after the fiancee arrive in the U.S, the "temporary" EAD has in my opinion very little value, if none, when you combine all the factors below..- It is only good during the time the K1 is good for: 90 days-It is not renewable... Meaning you will need to apply for permanent EAD after marriage while filing the AOS.- It takes approx. 60 days to process.. By that time, you will be likely married and about to file AOS/ permanent EAD anyway-Temporary EAD cost is now $ 120. And you still will need to file for a permanent one with its separate fee. We elected not to ask for it and just file AOS/permanent EAD instead. Just a thought.. Link to comment
Ying&Vin
I am not sure if it's correct, but someone mentioned in other thread that temporary EAD is free. I didn't know. I might just apply AOS for her asap. Link to comment

Regardless of the cost though, in my case, it's not worth it considering that we are getting married next week and file also AOS/ EAD Link to comment
myeagy
Eric, When Yan came back to the U.S. we went to the local INS office and she received a Temporary EAD card. The temporary EAD card was:- Issued the same day- Free, no filing fee You are right in that:- It is only good during the time the K1 is good for: 90 days- There is a $120 filing fee for the 1 year EAD card. I guess it depends on when Yuhui plans on working. Yan and I filed our AOS on 1/22/03 and are still waiting for a receipt so we can file for the 1 yr. EAD card. Just my 2 cents... Mike & YanThanks for correcting me .Good info . I guess I forgot about that freebee courtesy INS.Yuhui doesn't have to work right now ( No, I'm not Rockfeller, but she doesn't have to ) .... It's OK.. If she wants, she can, but we can wait for AOS/EAD we will file next week. We'll get it anyway, because it doesn't hurt just in case Link to comment
