IluvmyLi
I want to ask if anyone else is or has been stuck in name check hell after returning P3. How long were you stuck? I understand many of you have been stuck during the NVC process. But I only want to know about the name check after case having been accepted by GUZ. Thank you,Todd Edited May 20, 2006 by IluvmyLi (see edit history) Link to comment
ameriken
Sounds like you and others are stuck in the black hole. I think they have up to 6 months (legally) to conduct the name check. I dont know if it is the current bottleneck at GZ, or if it is just the normal processing you are stuck in.....some names (uncommon) process quickly, others just get hung up. The sad thing is I dont think there is anything you can do to find out where it is at or to speed up. When you check on it, which I am sure you have, all they say is a pat answer: "its going through name check right now, call back in 30 days". Link to comment

The name check is being done by some department within the USA. The Consulate will send periodic reminders to the Department of State on the progress of these name checks. I already have spoken to DOS and they aggreed to also do a follow up on our case to find out why the delay. I'm sure it's mostly to do with her very common name. But they have her parents name. How hard can it be to match up her name with her parents? It's been almost 5 months on a name check. What do they do, use snail mail back and forth between China to check on backgrounds? Freaken pizzing me OFF! Link to comment
Redsunset52
I waited 3 1/2 months for my P4 after sending in the P3 , the reason ? I really do not know . I assume it was the name check but I really could not determine the reason other than common name .. Link to comment

I just noticed your timeline. Why was your case in GUZ for almost one year? What was the hold up? Seems to be rare that P4's are hung up because of name check hell. Or maybe paranoia has some not wanting to respond. Usually once the cases get entered into the computer at GUZ, things go a bit less troublesome. Oh well. Weekends suck around here because I can't call DOS. Looking forward to Monday again so I can continue my daily calling. Edited May 21, 2006 by IluvmyLi (see edit history) Link to comment
