001 board...

My wife (and perhaps many of yours and SOs as well) spends a lot of time at this board. I've heard from a couple of folks that the info isn't nearly as accurate and beneficial. I get some pretty strange questions from my wife at times during our daily chats. Has anyone got an opinion on this? Thanks.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to the 001 board or CFL, but I am expressing my thoughts regarding CFL. I am sure there are many opinions that will be forth-coming on your post, but here is mine. It is my sincerest belief that everyone here does their level best to give good information regarding questions or concerns. What sometimes happens is the orginal poster fails to look at the histories available in the FAQ's and other forums where there is a wealth of information that has been compiled from actual experiences and Government supplied sources. However, one of the most beneficial things I have encountered is the unbelievable support and encouragement that I and countless others have derived from the "family" members here on CFL. I hope you can have that experience also..... Best wishes for your interview process and the joining of you and your wife soon.......

All I can say is that I feel it is more accurate than the Gov. site.and I have had a lot of support here.But for me it has been great ,like others has said it looks like the K-3,s are moving faster than before and I would have to agreed because of my time line is moving faster than the past ones.The people here puts us all in the same boat, ( we all have Chinese spouses.)That is all i need.

My SO found lots of very beneficial information on 001. The two of us have had lots of "high level" discussions about the merits of both 001 and CFL. When I have pointed out to her that it has inaccuracies and rumors she has turned around and pointed out some of the same on CFL. I used to worry that she would be fed some bad information on 001 to hurt our relationship, but was scolded for not trusting her judgement.

 

So in the end I have come to accept 001 as part of the Chinese experience that is very useful for my SO.

As with any public forum you must make your assessment based both upon your own personal experience and research. Keep in mind that those using the 001 site get a lot of misinformation albeit usually well-intentioned.

 

If I hear something new, out of the norm, or otherwise differentiates from what I would consider the current protocol, I try to bounce questions off others and seek validation. There are many currents one can observe from this site, but the prevailing wind is usually always there. Avoid the subtle currents (and HOT AIR) and stick to the more prevailing wind

I am a bit leary of 001 because of one of those incident email's I received from a person who had a 001 account address. The email basically stated my SO was scamming and I needed to be aware. I took it with a big grain of salt because every thing said in the email was contradicting what I really know about my SO.

 

As said in many post by many members of CFL, there are people out there who are jealous of others happiness and sour grapes may play into our journeys. It is best to keep private our SO's intent to immigrate to the USA and that is what we have done.

Yes there has been some misinformation there and a few bad apples spreading gossip and advice given on taking husbands for money in a divorce etc but there have been some disparaging words said here as well. Over all I think they are pretty decent people. After all they are our wives, fiancees etc. I don't think they are as well moderated as we are is all. It is a good resource for her but if she has doubts about informaition given there she can check it out here in our Chinese or any other forum.

You are right Carl, there are a few in every bunch. I didn't react to that email, just gained wisdom from the experience

 

Your point about moderators is also well received. I feel we have many good 'Leaders' in CFL. Most of the info is well researched and well meant. This is helpful in many ways that we want to share our experiences with each other.

Both systems work but driving in China scares us. 001 is less regulated like traffic there but it works for them.

Hi Dave!

Amy has used 001 from day 1 and she started out a little ahead of me in the learning curve before I discovered CFL.

She actually read about CFL on 001 and referred me to CFL as a resource for visa information!!.

There are also some off the wall posts there but you can't judge the entire board by a few peoples postings.

 

The China Vs. US traffic patterns is a good analogy - somehow both of them seem to work!

Thanks so much for your candor about the CFL board and let me assure you I share your sentiments. Actually, I was asking about the 001.com board. I understand it is solely Chinese speaking so my wife reads it like a good novel. I was just curious if the information given out there is comparable to boards like this one or perhaps VJ. Thanks again.

Thanks everyone!! You actually hit on a concern I had that actually my wife expressed to me. The jealousy and envy issue and how someone on the 001 site might compromise an otherwise successful interview with misinformation about someone (e.g. such and such person is faking her marriage). After my wife heard this, she didn't want me to discuss anything with anybody for fear some sort of retribution might occur. That was way back in the beginning when we first started our journey. I must admit, in my former job I managed a staff of 153 and mostly asian. You bet there was some heavy duty back-stabbing going on there. I don't think my wife actually posts a lot but she has made a friend or two. She has a solid head on her shoulders, I just don't want her pointed in the wrong direction with misinformation. Thanks again everyone.
