Ways to reduce waiting time at NVC

Recommended Posts

Here are some shortcuts one can make to help expedite NVC processing. It is from VisaJourney. The shortcuts are intended to generate the forms that NVC will send, and send them as soon as NVC says such form has been generated. It will save times of waiting for mailing and delivery, i.e. getting forms ready for mailing, stuffing in envelopes, sending them to the post office or mail pickup, and US post office delivery. I think one can save 1 month, assuming that one has all the documents (DS-3032, I-864 and DS-230) all filled out and ready to ship out. Those forms need beneficiary's signatures.

Make sure to follow the instructions in that link, and don't send anything too soon, i.e. before NVC says such form has been generated. NOTE UPDATE BELOW - No need to wait for anything to be generated.

The GZ P-3 supplemental form can be downloaded from here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...php?download=53

This P-3 form is part of DS-230 forms to submit.

Update 5/17/05 : I read posts by two people in VisaJourney who sent I-864 and DS-230 at the same time, a few days after they sent payments of the two fee bills, without waiting that NVC has generated the forms, and their cases were approved last week. Their cases were approved in less than two months after their NVC case numbers were assigned.

Here is a reply from one fellow who sent his DS-230 prior to its generated by NVC.

lomeshp has sent you this email from

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php.

Hey!

- Congratulations on getting through NVC.

>> Thank you!

- I read from your timeline that you sent DS-230 with self generated

cover sheet ahead of its generation by NVC. Apparently it's acceptable.

Several people told me that it's only acceptable if it is handled by a

lawyer, but not by an individual. Is your case handled by a lawyer or

by yourself?

>> No, I did not use a lawyer. However, i was certain that m DS-230

will be generated on that Monday, that's why I went ahead and sent it on

Friday by regular mail so it got ther on Sunday. I know NVC doesn't

touch our mails for 2 days once they receive it, so i knew that i would

be safe.

- I have another I-130 for my stepson, and I plan to send both I-864

and DS-230 about one week after I send the two fee payments. It is now

at CSC and I expect another week before its approval and forwarded to

NVC. It is behind my wife's because did not realize the requirement to

file a separate I-130 for my stepson.

>> I don't think you can send in DS-230 & I-864 until it is in teh

NVC's sytem, which may take up to 20 business days.

I hope I've answer your questions, if you have any more questions, let

me know.

There is a disconnect between the fee collecting division and the document review division of NVC. Look at this guy's post in VisaJourney. NVC sent him an email notifying they are waiting for DS-230 when his IV payment is not yet reconciled to his case.

Hi Everyone,

Here is the issue with the DS-230.

The NVC automated system still has not processed the IV payment, which was received two weeks ago, thereby DS-230 has not been generated. HOWEVER, I just received a email from NVC regarding my next step and the email tells me that "We[NVC] are waiting for the form DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa). The applicant must complete this form and send it to this office so that we may continue processing this file." So should I go ahead and send in the self-generated form or wait till NVC automated system gives me the go ahead and I receive the official form from NVC?

All this is so vexing..........

Again, thanks in advance for help.

Best Regards and Best of Luck.
