king
Some people on one or two other threads have said the consulate is moving That is true as to the visa section, adoptions and,. I believe, the American Citizens' Service, not the Consulate proper. The target date is July 1, 2005. I am not sure they will make it by then, but they are trying. I have seen the interior, lots of space on one floor. They were working on the floors and room frame outs about 2 weeks ago. The new location is in the Tianhe District. It is near the GZ East Train Station with trains to and from HK. The new location is about 3 big GZ blocks from the train station which also has a subway stop in it. There are several hotels close by. Link to comment
Dan R
Wasn't the East Station the one where people have had problems lately? Link to comment
king
I haven't heard anything about that, unless you are refering to anti-Japanese protests. One weekend there was a protest about a kilometer anyway at the big sports complex. Link to comment
amerchin
Correct me if I'm wrong Dan R, but I guess you were refering to the muggings, pickpockets, and etc. at the train station? I wonder how the subway crime below level is as well? Link to comment
bubbafred10
I read here and elsewhere that "muggings, pickpockets, etc." happens everywhere in Guangzhou and several other cities in southern China. They are not restricted to this or other train stations. Shanghai and Beijing are big cities with much safer and better securities. Link to comment
kk_zh
i think you mean the old train station. this one is much safer Link to comment
