[CFL – K1 interview 03/2007]
1. if she spoke English...Yan answered yes but said she could not speak it very well...So the interview was done in Mandarin...

2.how many times I had been to China...Yan said twice, last year and that I was there now...

3.asked for my passport... also asked to see photos of us together (quickly flipped through just a few), one real letter I had written and mailed to her, and my tax information...

[CFL – K1 interview 02/2007]
1. "What do you do for a living"?
Yu's answer "English Teacher"
And a tricky Question.
2. How many children does your "Husband" have.
Yu answered "He is not my husband, he is my fiance and no children"
Only asked to see the I-134 package.

 

 

[CFL – K1 interview 01/2007]
1. How is your English? She answered that she knew a little and wanted to learn more.

2. What does Tim do for a living? She advised him of my occupation in English.

3. How many times has he come to see you in China, and when ? She told him that I had visited her three times in the past 13 months, and that I would be returning again the first of February. She then offered up a book of photos, a book with e-mail letters, and a book with phone call records from e-callchina, as well as my airline tickets and Chinese Visas, from all my trips.

 

He looked at all the material and said, "it looks like you are well prepared !!" He then read the letter of introduction that I had prepared for the VO to read. Also, he read a letter from my 13 year old son, which stated how much he was looking forward to having Qian as his mom. I had attached 'notarized' copies of both my and my son's US Passport to the letters. Passed.

 

[CFL – K1 interview 12/2006]
1. he asked me for I-134 form,I handed it over with my fiancé ‘s 2005’s tax return, payrolls and paper from hisbank,all this staff ,he saved them and not returned them back to me,

2.he wanted to know what do I do and my fiancé do,

3. he wanted to know how we met and how we kept contact each other,he asked for chat record and photos as proof,I showed him IM chat records from 2004 to 2006,one month one page and organized by time, I have to do so, because if I printed all out,they were tons of weight needed a truck to load though most of times we only talked in sound,I put one photo of msn chat screen on top, I grasped my computer screen and printed it out to show how we use webcam to talk,he just leaf through but did look at the date,he looked at every photo and asked who is the black lady with us when we were in Beijing,

4.he focused on my occupation, asked for my college diploma and where I learn computer knowledge,

5.he also asked if my son would come to US with me and if my fiancé has any child,I could see what problem might be,but my answers made it clear,so he announced our visa was approved.

 

 

[CFL – K1 interview 10/2006] – In English
1. How did you meet?
via internet dating site.
2. How many times has he visited you?
3. How does he spend his time during his visits?
Spend time together with her parents/relatives and also travel/sightsee.
4. Do you have I-134?
Submitted I-134, along with supporting documentation (3yrs. tax, bank statement, employer info., pay stubs, etc.). VO reviewed.

2: How many sisters and brothers does your fiance have? Answer: 7 sisters and 5 brothers.

[CFL – K1 interview 9/2006] – In Chinese
1 - "When did your husband die?" - She told him
2 - "How did you learn English?" - She said in High School
3 - "Is your boyfriend still here?" - She answered yes
4 - "Can I see his passport?" - She handed him my passport and this letter that I had written to the VO:

[CFL – K1 interview 8/2006]
VO: Good morning. How are you?
SO: Fine thank you.

She then handed the VO her passport.

VO: Can you speak English?
SO: I speak some English, (she speaks better English than she thinks)

VO speaks in Chinese for the rest of the interview.

VO: Did fiancee apply for you the Visa
SO: Yes he did. His name is Cheffie dude...... (just joking!!.... she gave him my real name.)

VO: When did you meet?
SO: We met each other in early April of 2005 on internet.

VO: Did he come to China?
SO: Yes, he came two times. Once in July 2005 and then again in December 2005 for my birthday. Do you want to see pictures?

VO: Do you have pictures?
SO: Yes...(She gives him all 65+ MSN web cam pictures first. These pictures were made to accomplish two requirements of a K-1. First, to show communication and second to show a bona fide relationship). Then she showed pictures of us together alone, with her family and with her friends.

VO: Do you guys have children?
SO: Yes, I have a son and he has a son.

VO: Asked her for some financial paper.
SO: She was not clear on exactly which paper he wanted. She thinks he asked to see something with tax. She gives him the entire finacial folder. Let him decide which paper he wants to see. He looks at some of the financial papers.

VO: Starts to write something on another piece of paper. Then hands her a paper that has the most beautiful color of red/pink and says you are approved!!!

SO: Thank you very, very, very much!!!, (she says this in Chinese)
Then she repeats in English...Thank you very, very, very much!!!

At this point, he's typing furiously, looking stuff up online. Up to this point, everything has been in English. But she doesn't understand an English word in the next question, and asks for a translator, who also doesn't know the word.

Do you know he does [something sensitive/Intelligence]? "I know he does something with Intelligence, but that's all I know."
You've known him for 8 years, you are planning to get married, and you don't know what he does? "We haven't discussed it that much. I don't know. It doesn't matter to me."

 

 

[CFL – K1 interview 6/2006] – In English

1. VO: Your petitioner's name?
    SO: XXX
2. VO: How and when did you meet?
    SO: XXX
3. VO: How many times your fiance has visited you? 
    SO: XXX
4. VO: Looked at my passport again and asked is he here now?
    SO: XXX

Then without saying you passed the VO handed her the pink slip and SO responded with Thank You Very Much and my fiance Thank You too and have a nice day!

 

[CFL – K1 interview 5/2006] – Foreign K1 beneficiary in China (children were in home country, will interview there; follow to join)

1. It seems you're here alone, where are your children?
They're not with me in China. He then cancelled the names of my children on the appointment letter and said "Ok, it means they will be interviewed in your country, we shall arrange for "follow to join''.
2. What do you do on China? I teach ......
3. For how long have you been in China? 3 years.
4. How did you meet your fiance? .....
5. How many times has he visited you in China?... 3 times
6. What does your fiance do for a living? He's a Registered Nurse
7. Where was your fiance before he relocated to another state?.....
8. Do you have any photos? Yes gave him an album. (I had 3 albums but the VO looked through one).

 

[CFL – K1 interview 5/2006] – In Chinese

Q1. Have you ever been to the US?
A1. No, but if you agree I will be able to go.
This was meet with much laughter by both and greatly relaxed the VO and my SO. The rest of the interview was very relaxed from this point on.

Q2. How did you meet?
A2. We meet in Beijing while he (me) was on a business trip to China.

Q3. When did you meet?
A3. Just before chun jie (Spring Festival), end of January 2005

At some point the VO sees my SO has my passport and asks to see it. After looking through the pages he asks the following two questions:

Q4. Has he (me) ever been to Japan?
A4. No.

Q5. Has he ever been to South Korea?
A5. No.
(I was surprised at these two questions, but you can never know what the VO will ask. It pays to very well prepared)

VO6: Can I see your photos together?
She hands him our 8 pages of photos and he begins to look through them. Sees a photo of our engagement dinner and asks who the people are in the photo and she begins to name the people. The VO is impressed that my father travelled to China to meet my SO.

The VO then asked for and began to review the required documents. At the end of his review the VO said, I agree, you can go to the US. This was met with laughter from both.

 

 

[CFL – K1 interview 5/2006]

 

1. Question: What work did you finance do for many years?

SO Answer: He worked in the housing area many years

Reply: yes good, good
( comments: I had in my
ow we met letter?in the K-1 application that I had worked over 30 years in the housing industry, so I know they read the letter before the interview, perhaps this question was an attempt to know how well my SO knows me by knowing what line of work I did

2. Qustion: How Many times has he been to China? (this was asked as he was looking at pictures already in the K-1 application, he was commenting how nice the pictures were so my SO volunteered others of the second trip I took , but again he did not ask to see any.

SO Answer in English : He came in February 2005 and Sept 2005

Reply: After viewing the pictures was
ice very Nice?(We had prepared to show the Consulate pictures of my two trips to China of us together and with her family, the pictures he was reviewing were in my K-1 application I had sent 36 when I first went to China to meet my SO and our time together

3. Question: After seeing phone records in the K-1 File, he asked,
ow do you communicate on the phone? Does You Fianc?speak any Chinese?

SO answer: Oh, he (meaning me) speaks a little Chinese (very little) and I speak a little English, so we talk on the phone using little English and little Chinese, we use translations, etc. He was satisfied with the answer and did not ask for any additional relationship records.

Reply : good good

We were ready to present if needed a VHS of me and my SO communicating on tape. I made the tape on my second trip to China. I had put in the
ow we met Letter?for the initial I 129 F file that I took some basic Chinese lessons in order to communicate better with my SO. I had purposely inserted this comment to avoid the doubt if we could communicate after reading on CFL the VHS tapes that were needed for overcome. But again he did not ask for any VHS tape, etc.

[CFL – K3 interview 02/2007]

1. VO - (in English) What is your husband's name? Wife answers in English.
2. VO – (in English) Where does your husband live? Wife tells her in English the city and state where I live.
3. VO – (in English) What is your husband's job? Wife tells her in English.
4. VO - (in English) When and how did you meet your husband? In English my wife tells her that we first met on yahoo personals in April 2005 and shows her all of our emails, text/chat messages and skype call history. While the VO was looking at our correspondence history my wife tells her in English that I had visited her in China 4 times and was waiting for her in the coffee shop. She gave her my passport and showed her my recent airline ticket receipt and then she tells the VO that I have been married 4 times and that all of my 3 ex-wives are Americans.
5. VO then asks my wife - (in English) are you afraid that your husband will divorce you since he has been divorced so many times? Wife says in English that she is not afraid because she knows that this marriage is forever for both of us.
6. VO – (in Mandarin) turns to my daughter and says Congratulations you are going to America and then hands my wife the pink slip.

 

 

[CFL – K3 interview 01/2007]

2. What work does your husband do? (she answers as best as possible in English and he said he understood)

 

[CFL – K3 interview 12/2006]

She presented my passport and a one page, notarized condensed version of our “evolution of our relationship” letter. The VO looked at my passport and read the letter… then asked the following questions…

1. Asked about her former husband… He was killed in an auto accident 5 years ago.
2. Asked about my ex-wife… When we were separated and when we were divorced.
3. Asked to see the financial information. I134, letter from employer, letter from bank.
4. Asked if I spoke Chinese. SO said a little. Asked if she spoke English. SO said a little and then showed the VO our hand held translators.
5. Asked how often we communicate. SO offered a 2 inch thick log of emails, IM, and phone records. VO smiled but declined. SO offered pictures of our wedding and my 4 trips to China. VO smiled but declined.

 

 

[CFL – K3 interview 8/2006]

1. Who applied for you? (She said another word was used instead of the
the word applied) I think maybe the word was sponsor. Her answer
was of course me.
2. What does husband do for work? Retired Policeman

When did he work as Policeman? Retired 1998 and worked for 27 years

(VO asked in Chinese and meant what

The VO asked to look at 2005 taxes, pictures, communication evidence which I had provided a screen print of our conversation logs from yahoo messenger and web cam shots (2 times every day) telephone bills and emails. She looked at pictures and the index of our relationship evidence, contained in the 25 manilla envelopes, my wife had with her. My wife handed the VO the index with her passport at the beginning of the interview.

 

[CFL – K3 interview 8/2006]

1. She was asked if I spoke Chinese. Answer. A little.

The rest of the interview was conducted in Mandarin.

Showed photos - he did not look at the studio photos but the photos of our wedding meal with her family in Yingde.
He looked at her two wedding rings closely, she noticed.
He then asked how often I went to china, and looked at my notarized passport copy.

he also asked me the following documents: the affidavit of support, taxes return, my husband divorced paper, our photos, husband’s employer’s letters. Our interview lasted about 25 or 30 minutes. During interview, he left seat twice,

He replied, "Fine. Thank you.

Q1: So, do you feel comfortable speaking English?"

A1: "Yes. My English is OK."

Q2: "May I see your passport please?"

A2: "Yes, here you are sir." She then handed over BOTH passports.

Q3: "What does your husband do for work?"

A3: "He does financial sales in Denver, Colorado."

Q4: "How did you meet?"

A4: "We met on the internet on Asia Friend Finder in September of 2004."

Q5: "So you and your husband have lived together for a long time?"

A5: "Yes."

Q6: "May I see some pictures?"

A6: "Yes. Here you are sir." She then handed over a small stack of her favorite pictures she had pulled from the photo album while waiting in the interview hall.

His very next words, "Congratulations! You pass.

3. Why did you divorce, and then why did your husband divorce and when?
Ning told her the details.
4. Then the VO asked our son if he can speak English. Dude said yes, a little!

8) The VO saw a "photo poem" I had sent to Wenzhen, and asked to see it. I had not even thought to include this, but evidently it interested the officer.
9) Does your husband speak Chinese? - Yes, but with a pronunciation only a wife could understand.
